Top 25 Budget Gaming Monitor Under $100, $150, $200, $250, $300

The monitor is an essential part of every gaming PC. If you love playing video games, you will need to invest in a good monitor. But as we all know, the prices can be quite high. If you are on a budget, you will need to find the best possible option you can afford.

The reason why monitors are so important is the experience you get from games is through the monitor, the better the monitor the better the experience. Also, if you love playing online games, for example, you will need a high refresh rate since it will improve your input speed. There is a reason why professional players go for monitors with 144 Hz or even 240 Hz.

While your in-game FPS is based on the GPU, it is still important to invest in a monitor with a high refresh rate to improve the overall experience. Another thing you need to consider is screen resolution. If you own one of the new Nvidia GPUs, it would be a shame to use Full HD resolution when GPUs are capable of running up to 4K.

The choices are nearly limitless, but if you are on the budget, I created a list that might help you along the way. Here are some of the best budget monitors you can find on the market.

Top 5 Budget Gaming Monitor Under $100

Surprisingly enough, it is possible to find a decent monitor under $100. Naturally, the quality won’t be as good as it can be with more expensive models, but it is still something that will improve your gaming experience.

Here, I will go through gaming monitors with prices up to $100. Needless to say, the cheapest ones are not really good, so the choices will be mostly around this price limit.

This is probably one of the best gaming monitors you can find, and it costs less than $100. SB220Q comes from Acer, it’s beautiful, and it works amazingly well. It’s super thin with barely visible frames. Those that are interested in both design and performance, will adore Acer SB220Q.

Obviously, this Acer monitor is not designed for high-end gaming. And the main thing you need to worry about is your PC configuration. It runs up to 1920 x 1080 and can support up to 75 Hz. This means that it’s not really suitable for the new series of GPUs since they can run up to 4K (for example Nvidia 30 series). But if you have an older GPU like 1060, 1070, and even 2060, this might be a great choice.

The next model comes from Asus, which is always a sign of quality. The situation is rather similar to the previous entry on the list. Here we have a Full HD monitor with 1920 x 1080 resolution. It supports up to 75 Hz and has a standard 16:9 aspect ratio.

The monitor also features a GamePlus, which allows users to add crosshair, FPS counter, timer, and other in-game functions. You can either use it with the stand or mount it on the wall. The monitor is compatible with Nvidia GTX 10 and 16 series, as well as the newer RTX 20. I wouldn’t suggest getting this monitor if you own an RTX 30 GPU, since it wouldn’t be able to unleash the full potential of the graphic card.

BenQ has been around for quite a while, and we all know how great its monitors are. Here, we will take a look at GW2283, which is an excellent monitor considering the price. The diagonal is 21.5 inches, and it supports up to 1080p screen resolution. The monitor comes in black, and the design is frameless, which is something many users enjoy.

It also has built-in speakers, which means you can use it without buying a new set of speakers (if you don’t have any). The maximum refresh rate is locked at 60 Hz, and it is great for gaming. Naturally, competitive gaming might suffer in the process, but if you’re interested in single-player games, this will be more than enough. As before, it works best with GTX 10 and 16 series, as well as cheaper models from the RTX 20 series.

Samsung has been an important player on the market for the past couple of decades. We all know how expensive (and good) its smartphones are, and today, we’ll take a look at A31. Once again, the monitor supports Full HD resolution, and it works up to 60 Hz. It looks great and performs even better. Some people might dislike the bulkier design with thick frames, but it doesn’t ruin the look of the monitor.

It’s almost surprising that we can find a Samsung monitor in this price range, and there are some pretty good choices without busting a bank.

The last monitor in this category is designed by Dell. It is a bit weaker compared to other ones on the list, but the price is lower. If you don’t care about Full HD, this is a great option. The quality of the monitor is excellent, and the only problem with it is that it is a bit outdated.

It supports up to 1366 x 768 screen resolution, and it works on 60 Hz. The monitor is an excellent option for those with older PCs since it won’t require a modern GPU. If you are looking to buy a new monitor to play games, Dell E1916HV can be an incredible choice. However, if you own a newer PC, you might want to skip this model.

Top 5 Budget Gaming Monitor Under $150

Now, let’s increase our price range and see what kind of gaming monitors you can find under $150. Needless to say, the price range starts at $100, and I won’t mention other monitors that can fall in a previous category.

As we increase the price range, we can notice some changes in the quality, and find monitors that are even better.

The first thing you’ll notice if you check out this Samsung monitor is that it is curved. It’s perfect for gaming, and the price is surprisingly low. Besides the incredible looks, the monitor offers Full HD resolution and up to 60 Hz refresh rate.

It also has AMD FreeSync that will minimize the latency and significantly reduce screen tearing. There are also other options like eye saver mode and eco mode that will reduce brightness. The monitor is a great choice for everyone looking to upgrade their gaming experience, and try playing games in a different way.

Another great example of good gaming monitors comes from Acer. It has Full HD resolution, but this time, the refresh rate is 75 Hz. While it is not as significant an improvement as 144 Hz or 240 Hz monitors, it will still ensure that you have a smoother gaming experience. The design is incredible, and the monitor is without frames.

It also comes with AMD’s FreeSync which will even further improve the gaming sessions. Of course, the monitor is far from ideal, especially if you have a new PC. All things considered, Acer SB230 is amazing for the price.

ViewSonic VX2458 is a real treat. It is a 24-inch monitor, with a curved frameless screen. It supports up to 1920 x 1080 screen resolution and has a 1 ms response time. But the most important thing is that it has quite a high refresh rate. The monitor supports up to 144 Hz, which is perfect for all types of gaming.

And if you are wondering about the quality, you should know that ViewSonic has been recognized as the best monitor brand for the previous year.

Philips 246E9QDSB is a great gaming monitor. The design is gorgeous, modern, and frameless. It offers a standard 16:9 aspect ratio with Full HD screen resolution. It can also use AMD FreeSync to ensure the best possible experience.

The screen refresh rate goes up to 75 Hz, which is excellent for single-player and non-competitive games. There is no doubt that Philips is a well-known company, and you will be satisfied if you decide to go for this model.

Once again, we have ASUS on the list, but this time, the company offers something a bit different. Now, I should mention from the start that this might not be to everyone’s taste. The ASUS VB199T-P is a 19-inch monitor, and it has a 1.33:1 aspect ratio. The majority of people are already used to the 16:9 aspect ratio, and this might be too much for them.

Of course, those who played games in the past might enjoy this change, since it is more in line with monitors designed in the past. When it comes to performance, it works up to 75 Hz, has an incredible contrast ratio, and works quite well.

Top 5 Budget Gaming Monitor Under $200

The next category is for gaming monitors with a price tag between $150 and $200. As you can probably expect, there is an improvement compared to the previous two categories, and here, we can notice some models that are rather good.

If you are willing to invest a bit more, you need to check ASUS VG248QG. The monitor is designed for gaming, and there are a couple of features I need to mention. Firstly, it supports up to 165 Hz, but you can run it on 144 Hz or lower if you want. It is also compatible with Nvidia G-Sync, which will make the whole gaming experience even smoother.

The maximum resolution is Full HD, and the response time is 0.5 ms. All things considered, this ASUS monitor is amazing, especially if you consider the price. You can play competitive games, single-player ones, or anything in between.

One of the great advantages is that it comes with built-in speakers, and there are several different options when it comes to connectivity.

There are also different settings and options you can try out like low blue light, which makes the whole can increase eye comfort. Considering that HP 24mh is in the lower part of the category, it is a great monitor. Especially if you’re not willing to spend a lot of money.

Acer KG241Q is another excellent monitor in this price range. It has a standard 16:9 aspect ratio and supports Full HD. What makes it better than the majority of monitors on the list is that it can support a refresh rate of 144 Hz.

Playing games with a high refresh rate will improve the latency and responsiveness of the mouse and keyboard, which will allow you to react faster. More precisely, for the reaction to appear on the screen. While the improvement is a couple of milliseconds, it can make a world of difference if you are playing competitive online games.

The quality of the screen is great, and I didn’t expect anything less from Philips. The company is known for designing incredible products. If you opt for this model, you won’t regret it. However, you should keep in mind that there might be better options for this price range.

If you can afford to buy something in this category, LG UltraGear is an excellent choice. And as I mentioned, 144 Hz is something many gamers desire.

The 27-inch display supports Full HD resolution, and it can run up to 165 Hz. Naturally, it supports 144 Hz as well. It has a couple of incredible modes like ELMB and FreeSync which will make the whole gaming experience even smoother.

For those looking for gaming equipment, this is a perfect choice. Just remember that ASUS is behind ROG gear, which is considered to be among the best on the market.

The Scepter is another excellent gaming monitor. It supports up to 1920 x 1080 screen resolution, and it can run up to 165 Hz. The display is curved to allow the best possible experience during gaming sessions. When it comes to design, the edges are barely visible, and it looks quite good.

As for the features, the monitor supports AMD FreeSync, Blue Light Shift, and there are built-in speakers. It is a beautiful monitor that will satisfy many users. Needless to say, it works great with GTX 10 series (1070 and up), GTX 16, and RTX 20 series.

Another Full HD monitor with excellent quality comes from Dell. It has a 27 inch diagonal, 1 ms response time, and 144 Hz refresh rate. It’s ultra-thin, curved, and looks incredible. Now, you might wonder why would anyone buy a Full HD monitor instead of 2K, and the answer is simple – quality.

At this price range, you are looking at some of the best Full HD monitors in the market. At the same time, 2K monitors are entry-level and the quality is not nearly as impressive as here. Furthermore, the monitor resolution and refresh rate are pretty tied to the quality of the GPU. So, keep in mind your PC configuration before you go on buying a monitor.

As you can see, you can’t get both the size and quality. While I’m not saying that this model is bad, the characteristics of other monitors on the list are slightly better (even though the resolution is lower).

Of course, this mostly applies to fast-paced games, and if you don’t care about those, this is a great choice. The size of the screen is amazing, and the 60 Hz display is great for slower and less intense games.

The final entry on the list is Lenovo L27q-30. It is another QHD monitor with a standard 16:9 aspect ratio. It supports up to 75 Hz, and it has a 4 ms response time. The monitor looks amazing, especially Lenovo’s frameless design, and the quality is incredible as well.

Of course, this is still an entry-level 2K monitor, and if you are looking for the best possible option, you will need to pay a bit more.

Summary

Having a good monitor is essential if you want to play video games, especially newer ones. Each generation of games looks better, and you need a high-quality display to enjoy the game to the fullest. Of course, the prices of monitors can go from $50 to $1,500, and it’s all up to you to decide which one to buy.

If you are looking to buy a budget gaming monitor, there are still some great options. Naturally, as the price range increases so does the quality. You can find some amazing Full HD monitors for a small price. But if you are looking to get a 2K monitor, you’ll need to go for the entry model.

Finally, getting a 4K monitor under $300 is nearly impossible, and I wouldn’t recommend doing it.
